About the Vice Chancellor

Prof. (Dr.) Sanku Bose is a distinguished academic leader, institution builder, and technology strategist with over thirty-six years of experience spanning higher education, research, innovation, and industry across India and internationally. Widely recognized for his transformative leadership, he has successfully guided universities and educational enterprises through phases of growth, modernization, and academic excellence.

An early researcher in Artificial Intelligence in India, Dr. Bose pursued his doctoral research at IIT Delhi and later joined the University of Bonn, Germany, as a DAAD Fellow, gaining valuable international exposure to research, innovation, and higher education systems.

Throughout his career, he has championed future-focused education by fostering interdisciplinary learning, research excellence, entrepreneurship, industry collaboration, and global engagement. His leadership has contributed significantly to the introduction of emerging disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Robotics, Semiconductor Engineering, and Industry 5.0-oriented programs, preparing students for a rapidly evolving world.

Prior to joining Amity University Kolkata, Dr. Bose served as Vice Chancellor of Sister Nivedita University and Group CEO of Techno India Group, leading transformative initiatives aligned with the aspirations of NEP 2020 and the future of higher education.

As Vice Chancellor, he envisions Amity University Kolkata as a globally respected centre of learning, innovation, and societal impact. He is particularly passionate about harnessing the immense intellectual talent of Eastern India to build a world-class ecosystem for Social Sciences, Public Policy, Humanities, and interdisciplinary research. He is also actively engaged in advancing research in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), with a special interest in exploring the application of Vedic Mathematics and ancient Indian scientific wisdom in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and next-generation computational sciences.
